有时候,没有消息就是最好的消息
one more week and everything will be back in full swing. sometimes you kind of like the period of exams. where everything is just centered around cramming as much as possible into that brain of yours.
the end of promos wld mark the 3rd month. which translates to about 10 more months to go.
kinda scary if you think of it.
its been an exciting week.
worldwide that is.
what with the IMF, thailand's coup and the demonstrations over Hungary prime minister's confessions.
that morning. was listening to the radio when i heard the news.
unfortunately i dint have the papers with me, so had to be content with what little i could gleam from the radio.
pored over the report once i got it.
interesting development.
realized that i like reading news (:
elson's been really naughty. making so much noise and whining and just being such a pain... hm.. wonder where he learnt to be so naughty. or is it inborn?
weather's been awfully weird.
it'll be stifling hot in the morning and by late afternoon, dark angry clouds would have gathered. and then depending... it may blow over or it may accumulate into a heavy rain. tho never lasting for more than an hour.
i miss running. ):
and i need new shoes.
haha.
my 9 months old shoe finally showed its displeasure at being mistreated by developing a hole at the side. on both shoes in fact!
and well...
i'll never understand human beings.
never. they're too diverse, too confounding.
but actually.. hm.. i don't need to understand them...
life is as complicated as you make it out to be.
"statistics measure everything but prove nothing".
an interesting point.
i wonder how julian simon would argue this point since he's a great fan of statistics and numbers.
chanced across an interesting article in the straits times.
it talked about how geo-engineering could be the solution to all our environmental troubles. namely, greenhouse gases. two things i rmb was putting a large mirror in space to reflect sunlight and having some phosphurus or other kinds of particles in the air to minimize amt of heat absorbed by the atmosphere.
and it just struck me that julian simon, (if he was alive), would undoubtly go, "I told you so". okay. maybe not julian simon. but esther boserup. after all they were the strong proponents who insisted that human ingenuity could be the solution to all problems.
except. except. im not so sure abt tampering with nature. i mean, i believe everything exists the way it is for a reason. and tampering with natural laws like these just seems to be violating something sacred.
and the repercussians?
no one knows.
so do we risk it or not?
i guess that will depend on the extent of the current impact of global warming and pollution etc etc. and how far we are willing to go to cut down on expenditure. or like the article in nat geog said, "change our lifestyle" to ensure that we don't pave the way to our own extinction.
and for dont know what reason.
i dreamt abt my GP grade. ):
